Soundscape Accordion Trio

Guest Artists and Clinicians

We are pleased to welcome back the Soundscape Accordion Trio. These three musicians have previously performed at the Las Vegas Convention and were enthusiastically received.

All three began accordion lessons at a young age.

• Larry Miller was an accordion performance major at the University of Denver where he studied under Bob Devine. Larry then assisted his father in directing a music school in the Denver area.
• Madalynn and John met while students at the Wilkins Music Studios in Chicago where Vince Geraci was their music director and mentor. They competed and won many awards throughout there musical training. John minored in music at St. Joseph’s College in Indiana; he then went on to earn a Masters in Business at Northern Illinois University and was recipient of Advertising Age Magazine’s "Top Marketing 100 Award". Madalynn has a PhD from the University of Colorado and recently completed post doctoral work in genetics at Georgetown University.

Soundscape has been playing as a group for over 10 years. The three returned to the accordion after a lapse of 25 years and were delighted to learn that their technique returned (after hours of practice!). They spend their day hours as an engineer, marketing expert, and nursing professor. At night and on weekends they enjoy preparing for local and national performances. They have performed across the country at accordion club concert in Chicago, Milwaukee, Salt Lake City, and Phoenix. Locally they are frequently featured at the concerts sponsored by the Colorado Chamber Music Society and Denver Symphony Guild. They are currently preparing a joint ensemble venture with the Colorado String Quartet which will include the Mendelssohn Octet.

After hearing one of their performances the principal French Horn player for the Denver Symphony offered to be their coach. Over the past few years, his advice on balance, interpretation and tonal color has been invaluable.

The mission of the trio is to introduce audiences to the versatility of the accordion. Their repertoire of recognizable classics has grown to over 100 pieces. John transcribes most of the music for the group. The trio amazes audiences with their sound and technique.
