Peter & Mady Soave

Artists & Clinicians from France!

Reading Peter & Mady’s bio is a reflection of their artistic prowess in not just the accordion world, but in the music world.  We are fortunate to have both Peter and Mady with us this year.  We have included a few excerpts from their official bios.

Recognized worldwide as the foremost master of the bandoneon and concert accordion, Peter Soave has established himself as the leading soloist of his generation. The hallmark of his performances is his unique combination of commanding stage presence and the excitement of his vibrant virtuosity.

Of Italian descent, Peter Soave's earliest memories are of music played on an accordion. By age three, he was certain of his life's work. He began music studies at five. At sixteen, he entered international competitions and swept first place four times, confirming his reputation.

Peter’s engagements include performances as a soloist and with orchestras throughout the world.  He has collaborated with many world famous orchestra conductors and has had numerous compositions written for him by Venezuela's foremost composer, Aldemaro Romero.

Eager to harmonize nature and music, Soave founded the Peter Soave Music Academy in the Dolomite Mountains in Italy, which is held annually each summer.

Mady Soave was born in Grenoble, France. At age 8 Mady first learned the traditional French musette accordion repertoire but by age 15 she began studying classical accordion and went on to study music theory, composition, and harmony for seven years at the National Conservatory of Chambéry, near Grenoble.

Mady has won many awards, including the prestigious Astor Piazzolla Prize in Italy (1994 and 1995), organized by Piazzolla's longtime producer/manager Aldo Pagani. Since 1995, Mady has worked closely with Aldo Pagani in the presentation of Piazzolla's music.

Mady Soave has performed, as a guest artist, with many symphony orchestras. Most recently, she performed The Lord of the Rings Symphony with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra.

While he was touring France, Mady Soave met American bandonéon and accordion virtuoso, Peter Soave. Peter was so impressed with Mady's bayan technique that he invited her to study with him in the U.S. The pair fell in love and married in 2001. After 10 years they are still in love and making beautiful music together – we wish you many, many more!  Peter & Mady, we welcome you back – thanks for all you do for the accordion!
